Mohawk expands production at Thomasville facility, creating 50 new jobs

This expansion brings the company's total workforce in North Carolina to almost

    1,000 team members

THOMASVILLE, N.C. August 18, 2021Mohawk Industries is growing its Thomasville, N.C. manufacturing facility, creating 50 new jobs with an expanded 275,000-square-foot manufacturing area.

“I’m proud of our relationship with this community and proud that Mohawk has recognized that this is a great place to continue to invest our resources,” Mohawk Senior VP of Hardwood and Laminate Operations Bart Stofferis said. “We have a great team here already, and I look forward to welcoming new team members to our organization as we grow.”

Regina Barrios, Mohawk human resources manager for the facility, said the expansion represents another exciting milestone for the company's Thomasville site.

“This location is already home to a 1.6 million square foot state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for laminate flooring, with a 20-year history in this community,” Barrios said. “Demand for our premium laminate flooring made in the U.S. continues to increase, and with that, this new expansion will create many more exceptional career opportunities.”

The expansion was announced Tuesday by the Davidson County Economic Development Commission. “This is the fifth local expansion for Mohawk in recent years,” said Craig Goodson, DCEDC President and CEO. “We’re excited to see their continued investment in our community.”

Mohawk is hiring for both entry-level positions, as well as roles for team members with technical and automation experience.

“This new expansion will create high-paying jobs that Mohawk has already begun the hiring process for,” Stofferis said. “Mohawk not only provides jobs in the area, but is an active part of the community, supporting the city of Thomasville and its citizens in a variety of ways through community involvement with our local schools and United Way. The support of the City Council of Thomasville and the Davidson County Board of Commissioners has been a great asset to this expansion project.”

Barrios added that as a Fortune 500, global flooring leader with some of the best-known brands in the industry, Mohawk is a great place to start or develop a career with an emphasis on more of what’s important to each individual team member.

“We’re planning several hiring events to meet applicants and explain new positions, and you can also view current job openings and opportunities to find your more with Mohawk at mohawkcareers.com,” Barrios said. “For information on upcoming job fairs, follow us on Facebook at Mohawk Industries Careers.”
