375 students, representing every high school across our three Systems, participated in the first event of its kind in Davidson County. Davidson County Schools, Thomasville City Schools, Lexington City Schools, Davidson County Community College, DavidsonWorks and Davidson County EDC partnered to create a day for students to see manufacturing firsthand through 11 company tours followed by a Career Day and lunch (provided by DCEDC) with company representatives at DCCC. Career Day offered students the opportunity to ask questions and learn more in a face-to-face setting as they explored the many booths set up on campus. The day ended with tours of the DCCC campus where students could envision how education and training can prepare them for excellent careers as advanced manufacturing professionals.
Echoing many comments, Margaret Annunziata, VP Academic Affairs stated “It was indeed a great pleasure to host the Career Fair and to welcome students, high school staff and system administrators, plus industry partners to DCCC! I appreciate all of the enthusiasm and hard work that went into making this an unprecedented success. The collaboration involved in making all of this work for the benefit of our students demonstrates that we can tackle any issue working together toward a shared goal”.
